On a plaque directly in my line of sight as I laid in bed read: Fear not, for I am with you (Isaiah 41:10).
Those words kept my spirits up each day and gave me the strength to keep going.
Then my cousin texted these words to me:
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning —Lamentations 3:22-23
As soon as I saw those words, I immediately began to cry. It was just what I needed to hear at that exact moment. No matter how bleak it was looking, I was reassured that God will always love me and that his goodness to me is fresh every day—no matter what is happening in my life.
The words of Scripture are a life line for us when we are drowning in pain, sorrow and despair and they can pull us up and out on the dry ground of God’s sure and certain hope.
Because of my experience, I want to make sure to be a bringer of these powerful words of hope and promise from Scripture to those I know who are hospitalized or going through tough times.
When everything else seems to be falling about, it is only the Word of God that can keep the hurting soul together.
Let us be agents of Scriptural healing to those in need.
